Rod Quantock has been a stand-up and, more recently, a sit-down comedian for almost 50 years. His shows are always relevant to the moment and change with the headlines of the day. But what Rod has noticed is that the headlines of today are the same as the headlines of yesterday. To prove it, he is reprising one of his most successful shows, Boredom Protection Policy. In this incarnation, Rod revisits the headlines of fourteen years ago and compares them to today. Quantock’s Boredom Protection Policy debuted in 2002 at Trades Hall Melbourne to critical and popular acclaim. Boredom Protection Policy is a solo show about contemporary politics and society presented by Australia’s longest serving comedian.

“The truly remarkable thing about Rod is that for more than thirty years he has remained a contemporary stand-up comedian, evolving and staying at the forefront of the craft. That he continues to build new, younger audiences all the time is testament to one of the most impressive careers in Australian comedy. Changing the world is never so much fun as when you do it in the company of Rod Quantock.” Susan Provan, Director, Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

“We walked away entertained, reflective and finally, amazed. If you only see one comedy show this year, make it Rod Quantock.” Daily Telegraph

“Once again, Quantock delivers telling blows to the right with disarming humour, cunningly disguised intelligence and idiosyncratic charm.” The Age

“(He) is our best political comedian. He may simply be our best comedian.” The Herald Sun

“…a passionate, meticulously well-informed, fearless political comedian.” The Sunday Age

“Sophisticated satire, unpretentious, daffy… his easy rambling fills the stage. Clever, simple and acid… a comedian for thinkers.” The Melbourne Times
