Andy Phillips has certainly been making moves since he first started his band ‘The Cadillac Walk’ in late 2013. His popularity as a performer has increased exponentially in the last couple of years and is a favourite now on the gig and festival circuit.

To go back a couple of years, Andy had been thinking about starting a band for a while but the kick he needed to get going came out ‘of the blue’ and quite by accident; an enquiry from a Blues Festival in New Zealand (where he had visited and jammed at the club) were curious if he had a band and if he did, would he come to play at their festival. He told the festival to book him and so Cadillac Walk was hurriedly born and they haven’t looked back! An EP and Video recording soon followed produced by Mike Elrington and Sean O’Sullivan at Highway 9 Productions, and then the solid gigging started, first one gig a week, then two and now regularly three or more gigs a week, 52 weeks of the year. In fact Andy works solely now as a full time musician and was able to give up his day job. Without doubt, within a short time, Andy has racked up an impressive resume playing at many of the top Blues Festivals both here and in New Zealand as well as a visit to Austin, Texas, USA where he graced the stages of the Austin Blues Society and other iconic venues as part of their blues jams.

In recent months Andy has teamed up with Chain Music Award ‘Best Blues Band 2016’ finalists Keith Hall and Pat Dow (SA). A meeting of minds at the West Oz Blues Fest resulted in Andy being invited to record on their new album ‘A Sense of Place.”  In April the band will be touring with Andy in Melbourne following which he will return with them to SA to record his own album and tour SA with the band in May. The plan then is for the two bands to tour together to the UK in late 2016, early 2017.
